Welcome to the web site of the Deacon Community of the Diocese of
Oakland. We are deacons and wives of deacons committed to serve the People
of God by proclaiming the Word in all aspects of our lives, serving at
Liturgy and ministering to those in need of God's love, especially
the poor and oppressed. You will find us in parishes, soup kitchens, jails
and hospitals as well your neighborhoods and workplaces. In assisting our
bishop in his ministry to the local church, we strive to be a
living sacrament of Jesus, who came not to be served, but to serve.
