Vision
Statement
We see a
hospitable diocese in which justice, service, and compassionate care are the
watchwords of life among the people here. We see a diocese in which spiritual,
social, emotional physical, and liturgical needs are met in ways that include
all people in the family of God, expressive of the care we have for each
other. We see a diocese free of bigotry, racism, and discrimination in all its
forms.

Mission
Statement
We model
for all whom we meet and serve a way of working, worshipping, and living that
is based in the Gospel and on the life of Jesus, whose herald we are. Our
service ministries will evoke in others a desire to serve each other
compassionately, with justice and hospitality, including all people who, no matter
what their race or ethnic heritage, gender, age, sexual orientation, or
culture, see in each other the gifts that they share in the faith community.
We address social justice issues by including the community and bringing a
sense of inner peace first to ourselves and then to others, so that effective
resolutions benefiting everyone can emerge and be acted on. We will discuss
and understand issues that arise, challenging ourselves to accept new
information and ideas, moving forward in the spirit of God. In this way, we
receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ in our hearts, helping each other and all
people to believe what is read, teach what is believed, and practice what is
taught. Our liturgical activities spring from our service ministries and will
help the people bring a larger context to the daily problems we face, and to
bring higher meaning to the responsibilities we all share for the success of
our parishes, deaneries and diocese.
